Extreme Spanish nationalism has experienced great support in the elections in Spain and hardly anyone is likely to have been unaware of VOX's electoral success. But not all voters of VOX, PP or Cs really wanted extreme Spanish nationalism, perhaps they just wanted to signal that they could no longer bear the hustle and bustle of the separatists. Perhaps they just wanted peace to be restored and the real problems of Spain to be tackled.
I'm afraid this bill won't add up. The separatists want the fight just like VOX. „For us or against us?“ Already at school the students are forced to take a stand instead of thinking and looking for a way out of the dilemma.
LibertadDigital on 15.11.: „The Assembly for a Bilingual School denounced that secondary school students from several schools in Tarragona were forced to answer a survey in which they were asked about their position on the independence of Catalonia, whether their friends are Catalan or „from other countries“, to what extent they identify with the Spanish language or Catalan, or whether they feel Catalan or Spanish.“[1] The idea that one is Spanish AND Catalan should not even arise. And of course friends who are Spanish are from „other“ countries - a good approach to xenophobia. No different from VOX.Footnotes
Anyone who now thinks that this is a one-off occurence, a slip up and is only taking place in Catalonia must be made aware of the following: For a spell check at the „Instituto de Educación Secundaria (IES) Lluis Vives de Valencia“ a political manifesto of the separatists was used.[2] There orthographic errors had been built in which the pupils were supposed to find.
Catalonia is not far from here, the conflict will spread to the Balearic Islands and here in the Valencian Community if we do not confront this madness.
